Over the past month I've watched all 3 seasons of 24 on DivX. Thats some serious number of hours of viewing. Having all the episodes right here is a deadly curse, the story is gripping and it becomes more and more difficult to let go and not watch the next one straight away. Its by far the best series I've ever watched, I'm already excited about the prospect of a new season - but how will it be not being able to watch them and pause them at will? Watching them weekly on TV sounds painful.

I never realised it was so easy to unlock mobile phones. Simply go to unlockme.co.uk and download the DCT4 Code Calculator 5.4 by Hollowman. There are clear instructions on the website on how to go about it, and it literally takes about 30 seconds when you know how. Works on all the phones I've tried, but its not capable of providing codes for Nokia ASIC 6 phones which means if you have a Nokia 6230 you are out of luck, and need to unlock via a data cable. It should work ok on every single other type of Nokia though, just look at the Help -> Nokia DCT Codes list to find which settings to use. There are codes available in the program for LG, Samsung, Siemans and many more too.

Finally after buying our new server panic back in August we installed it in Redbus Harbour Exchange today. After configuring the networking and testing the serial console, Jon, Paul and I drove down with the machine and met Markus there. We plugged it in, turned it on and it Just Worked™. Amazing, there were no issues, everything was fine and it was all done in 20 minutes. Such a pleasant contrast to when we put in dmesg. We should get some of the software configured soon.
So, after all that, we sat in Canary Wharf for a while, had a lovely Wagamama and sat with some coffee for a while.

My new car! Its a 2003 koda Fabia 1.9TDi (PD 100bhp) Hatchback in 'Comfort' trim and Deep Sea Dark Blue Metallic paint. I love it! Was quite nervous not having driven for a few years and then driving my shiny new car down the M4, but it quickly came back to me. Thanks a lot to my cousin who drove me up and helped check out the car before we head back home. No doubt there will be more words about it here soon.

I went to see a car today after work at Trade Sales. I gave them a call before I left and the woman on the phone was very impatient, she interrupted me, she wasn't polite and talked at 500mph. Not a good first impression. We could only get there near closing time when it was dark, cold and a little damp so not ideal. But I don't have any other time to go. A salesman wandered over to us, 'Omar'. I really didn't like him, he seemed lazy and he talked far too much bullshit. I came to see some Skoda Fabia's that they had in stock on their website, and I had done some homework beforehand. Omar told me that they were company cars, so all the same spec, but I insisted to see all of them. You could tell he didn't want me to and only wanted me to see one car. He mentioned that "We are a large volume retailer and sell a bajillion cars a year" as if that excuses him from providing any level of customer service. They were not all the same spec, some had CD Players and A/C, some didn't, so it was a lie that they were all the same. I picked a blue one and sat inside, and he said "Its had a careful owner, you can tell because the guy valeted it before it came in". I hate car salesmen, they universally seem to just talk crap.
Anyway, I made a decision, and went for the low milage blue one. Filled out the forms, laid down a deposit and went over to a woman to organise collection. This woman was rushing us to choose a date, she obviously wanted to go home, yet it was still 10mins until they officially close. What is with the staff at this place? At least the car is good value. I'm finally getting a car! Going to pick it up on Saturday :)
